Lake Magdalene's Visual Art Program "Good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us." Roy Adzak
Art Specialist: Debbie Richards
Welcome to Lake Magdalene's exciting visual arts program! Our 2012/2013 theme is "Imagine....Believe...Achieve!" The contributions and influences of artists and cultures will be studied.
Our art study incorporates reading, math, science, social studies, writing, history and social issues. Lessons are designed around the elements of art and the principles of design. Art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics are used to motivate and further the knowledge of art with the use of different media.
Our art program showcases a schoolwide student art show in May. Every student in kindergarten through fifth grade exhibits their favorite two dimensional and three dimensional works of art. Over 2,000 works of art are exhibited in this fabulous art show.
Please stop by and visit our Student Gallery in the main hall outside of the school office. We take pride in the rotating exhibit of fifty-seven framed art works by talented student artists.
Please visit the parent newsletter on the sidebar for information on what's happening in art. Let me know what I can do to improve our art program. Email: debbie.richards@sdhc.k12.fl.us. I would love to hear from you!
